Happy Hump Day! Just kidding, it's Thursday.
Better late than never, here is this week's blog!
This week we’ve been talking about our favorite trends to expect in 2017, and probably the trendiest trend is going to be the increasing use of geometric detail. Towards the end of last season, we worked with Carlyn of The Bash Events and Dawn of Dawn Owen Design that incorporated the geometric shapes, and we’re anticipating even more this season. First, let's look back on our favorite geometric uses of last year.
The first event, in a tent at Cranbrook, used specially fabricated geometric boxes that were then covered in moss. The second event, at The Townsend Hotel, was a ceiling treatment of hanging glass & metal terrariums among greenery and fairy lights.
Here are some different ways to incorporate geometric shapes into your event.
1. hanging decor
There's nothing we love more than a dramatic hanging statement piece. Whether over your dance floor or over tables, there's no beating the wow factor of hanging decor. These many geometric pieces are exceptional and the color scheme is on point.
2. table numbers

Classy meets modern with this glass table number. We love the versatility of glass, and we're always looking for new ways to bring clean lines and simplicity like this to our events.
3. ceremony backdrop
This twist on the average greenery wall is so dreamy, taking the geometric trend to a whole new level with different textured greens and natural wood.
4. dessert table
This dessert display proves that you can bring the geometric trend to rustic theme and it's magic. Floating shelf with little cakes and a hanging cube? Yes, please.
It's all in the details with this cake. From the lines in the bottom layer to the literal shape of the second layer, and the use of a true geometrical piece, we are obsessed.

Chalkboards aren't going anywhere and here's a perfect way to make them seem less country, and more hip. This ain't yo grandma's chalkboard.
These geometric minimal invitations from Fourteen-Forty easily portray the message "this is going to be a fun wedding". When you tie everything from the Save-the-Date to the favors into the theme, it makes the personality of the couple shine through.
We are really digging the juxtaposition of neutrals and pops of color here, and love the combination of different shapes. FYI, things don't need to be exactly the same in order to come across as a cohesive theme.
The OCD in us loves to be totally in theme from the beginning.
The key to using this trend is to not be afraid of it, and the good thing is that you don't need a lot of it to make a huge impact. The thing we love about all the above elements is the simplicity. And our favorite things to complement the trend: mixed metals and greenery. There's no going wrong with this bold trend.
